Last night was the first time this year that I have to run the AC while sleeping. Today is the same, hot and humid. It was so humid that you can squeeze the water out of the air. I was constantly sweating even just sitting in front of the computer. Dark cloud is gathering at the southern horizon. Distance thunder signaling the coming rain storm. This is a typical Summer afternoon in Taiwan.
Last week was the most boring week at work. Our project is delayed due to the delay of the parts supplier. A whole chain reaction triggered down to us. I was so sick of browsing the Internet, mind you, I was looking for work related information. When twiddling your thumbs at the desk, don't you get a feeling that the blade of the axe is pretty close to your neck?
Nothing better then doing what you like to do and make money from it at the same time. My buddy got lay off from HP few years ago, a woodworking hobbyist. Now he's got a job at a wood working shop. I hope I can get a job at a photo processing lab someday, before I can no longer walk.
I went back to my old photos and processed few more pictures. I have
posted them here, check it out. They are office buildings on
Seaport Blvd. Redwood City, way out into the Bay. Note: After the map opens, zoom in to the office complex at the center, top of the map for a closer bird's eye look.
My 7 months old new career ended quietly. The funding ran out as of 5/31/2006. The company did not make the deadline to become profitable so the investor pulled the plug. Its a disappointment for all of us that time was not on our side. Lived in Silicon valley but never personally experienced as part of a startup company, it really hurt to see something you worked hard on but it will never see the days of been a product on the shelf. As our daily life too, you have to draw the line somewhere. Is not easy to make that decision, when to call it quit.
Don't you hate that when you think you have come up a good idea but later find out someone had done it already ? Check out Michael Wolf's
Architecture of Density. He took photos of high rise buildings of HongKong. I saw that when I was in HK last year, intrigued by it and saw similar in Taiwan's apartment building. I wanted to do a photo project of it until I saw Michaels work. His subjects are many magnitude denser of what I see in Taiwan. So, I will post a
few of my ownAlso check out Michael's photo on
100 Rooms. Simply amazing. I am not sure if I have the guts to even ask.
