It is 7:30 AM on a week day. North bound traffic on highway 85 is packed with cars. How dramatic it compares to the south bound lanes. On the days I go for a morning walk instead of running, I go across hwy.85 through this pedestrian overpass to the park on the other side.
I have been wanting to take photos at the Stanford dish (or what ever that area calls). It just so happened that the cloud formation is such spectacular that I have to go today. It makes shorter walk if you enter from Alpine Road entrance. Mainly I want to take IR photos. Since I can't process it yet so I can only show the color version.
See what I mean about the cloud? It is
Cirrus clouds, correct me if I am wrong. Cirrus clouds are thin, wispy clouds blown by high winds into long streamers. They are considered "high clouds" forming above 6000 m (20,000 ft). Cirrus clouds usually move across the sky from west to east. They generally mean fair to pleasant weather.
There is no more American then an eggs breakfast at Denny's. Two eggs any style, bacon, sausages, toasts, pancakes, potato and coffee.
Ever since I came back to the States, my friends had invited me for mountain biking. I have used all the lame excuses for not able to go. Like, my bike is not ready, or I am busy that day. Deep down, I am afraid of facing the reality that I am so out of shape to go on a ride like we used to do in a heart beat.
I took the bike off the hanger in the garage. Both tires were completely flat. I am surprised that both front and rear shocks were still holding the air although they all needed a little lubrication. The only problem is the front derailer can not shift into the large ring which its OK because on the MTB, it is not used that often. Other than that, everything works just like before.
After cleaning the dust off, I took a spin in the street around the neighborhood. It all works well but my body seems out of place. I have not ridden any bikes in years. Somehow I can't find a comfortable position on this bike. I put over 2000 miles on this bike before I stored it away so it must be me that has changed, few years older for sure.
On a different note,
Saturday was the memorial for Stan Seaberg, the father of my best friends Sylvia and Sonia. It was held at
Hokone Garden in Saratoga. You can't find a better place for this ceremony. We celebrated the colorful life of Stan. We will miss you deeply.
Because my brother-in-law is out of town, my sister asked me to accompany my nephew to Vancouver Canada for his job interview. He is interested in teaching English to Japanese students. This type of work is usually handled by some agencies. This interview was with one of the many. Since none of us have been to Vancouver, so we have decided to arrive 2 days earlier so we can tour the city.
One thing that shocked me was that you have to pay to park your car at 90% of the parking lot. I have to pay $10 a day to park at the hotel parking lot. I guess this will encourage people to take public transportation but we are here only for 4 days total. I have no clue of riding their buses so we just bite the bullet and paid.
The city is beautiful especially all the trees are changing color now the Winter is here. The city gets a lot of rain so the grass are kept nice and green.
We did as all tourist did, went to the Stanley Park. walked Capilano suspension bridge, University of BC. Visited many museums too. We were going to go to visit Victoria but were short on time. This is an all day trip
I have not seen weather like this past week for a long time, clear sky and cool breeze. Perfect day to go to the park. It is a bit of a drive to go to the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco but no other parks can complement such a nice day.
