Melamine

If you follow the world news closely, you will know what I am talking about. Melamine, a substance used in making plastic product was found in human food mainly powder milk produced in China. Last year when poisonous dog food incident surfaced, the culprit was melamine contamination. First thought was the containment came from external source, later discovered that the containment was added purposely by the manufacturer. Two weeks ago, the news came to light in Taiwan that many milk products imported from China were contained Melamine. The reaction to the news came a year too late, the spread of using the product has already reached everywhere.
Melamine contains mostly nitrogen, unethical milk producers see that as an additive to fool the test of higher protein contain for their product to fetch a higher price at the market. This practice was first used in cattle feed as early as 1958. Until 1978, when discovered that this practice was unacceptable. (Read more about)
I don't understand is What kind of a person will have no guilt feeling messing with human food that million's of people rely on. Is money or profit really above everything?

Windmill Farms at Altamont Pass

(Patterson Pass Road)
I can't remember how many times I drove over Altamont Pass as I watching those windmill lined hilltops. Thinking, would it be nice to get closer to see them. Thanks to Google of bring us the Google Map and the Street View. I found the road that can take me there. A little history behind those windmills. In response to the 1970s energy crisis, windmill became popular to be the alternative energy source. Altamont Pass provides consistent wind that favors putting the windmill at the hilltops. Slowly the Altamont Pass grown to be the largest windmill farm in the world, more then 5000 windmills installed in the area. I am not sure if all the windmills are still operating right now because of the clash between wind-power proponents and environmental activists. The Altamont Pass also serves a path for the migrating birds, and its grass covered hills provide food to those birds. When the birds meet the spinning turbine blades, the birds loose. At one time, the windmills were shut down during the migration months.

These photos were taken during the Summer month when the grass has turned into golden brown. I like to come back in Springs when the grass are green.
