(A burned up vehicle)
As usual, I was taking a walk around the neighborhood after the dinner. When I came around this busy intersection, I saw huge plume of smoke blanketed the street. I really wanted to go see what was going on then my instinct told me that those smoke looked too thick and who knows, its maybe poison too. So I waited and watched the fire trucks with siren blaring rushing to the scene. Few minutes later, the smoke subsided and looked safe to get close.
It was a car that caught on fire in the engine compartment. Because of the car was stopped in front of a restaurant. The thick smoke got into the eating area, few people suffered smoke inhalation. One of the thing I learned when I was involved with the company ERT (emergency response team) was how to deal with smoke. The smoke is lighter then air so it flows up. The way to protect yourself is to stay as low to the ground as possible.

Her bright white high heels caught my eyes while they zipping in and out of the traffic after a down pour. I caught up with them at the red light.

Another lotus blossom season is upon us. I felt obligated to take photos of them again. Well, its also to compare if my skill had improved over the years.

Last year's
here, what do you think ?

I took a walk after having an early dinner that day. As the sun was setting, the golden light reflecting off the buildings gave them a look of been gold plated.

(Lanyang Museum)
I can't remember how hot the Summer was last year, then I realized that I was in US the whole time. It has been scorching hot this past week. Record heat was pushing close to 40 degrees C (104 F) in Taipei city. I did not want to go outside, did not feel like moving around in the house. I feel guilty about having the AC at home running all day so I try to spend some time at the mall of shopping center. It gets boring very soon there and they knew people come in were just to cool off so there were not many free seating areas provided.
I saw the news on the new opening of
Lanyang museum (Chinese only link). The admission is free during the test run period. My nieces are on summer break, good time to take them to explore new stuffs other then what is in their iPhone. btw, they glued to their iPhone all day long. Its also a good time testing out my new GPS navigation device, a
Garmin 1350.

(Main lobby of the museum)
The museum building was designed according to the local geological shape,
cuesta, i.e. slope. " is a ridge formed by gently tilted sedimentary rock strata in a homoclinal structure". There are major three parts of the display, a permanent display of the nature and life of the eastern flat land of Taiwan. Rich with rice fields and ocean catch. A special exhibit hall and children discovery museum. The children museum is still under construction. The museum also collaborates with the local communities to preserve the culture of the local natives.
